DOC (Department of Conservation) is the New Zealand government department that is responsible for New Zealand’s nature. Most people that work for DOC are extremely passionate people that care greatly for our environment. They respect the New Zealand way of life and feel that camping is a huge part of that. They have dedicated many campsites around New Zealand for camping, and charge only a small fee (around $6/night), many with million dollar views!
