About

It all started in 2006 while on a University holiday when I became the first person to ride a 50cc scooter the length of New Zealand. From Cape Reinga (North) to Sterling Point (South) and riding at a maximum speed of 55 km/hour.
With just a video camera, tent, spare petrol can and a backpack, it was a great way to explore New Zealand and meet some great people along the way. The trip wasn’t all leisure however, as I also recorded points of interest; logging their GPS position and have continued to do this in my spare time (not on a scooter) in the five years since in a campervan. Capturing this data and turning into something that can benefit the freedom camping experience is what Campermate is all about.

We believe that by providing accurate information to freedom campers, it will reduce the impact that freedom camping is having on the environment and create a better freedom camping experience. Check out the CamperMate Facebook page!

Until then, safe travels!
