It all started in 2006 while on my Uni holidays when I decided to ride a 50cc scooter the length of New Zealand. Why exactly, I’m not entirely sure but it was a heck of a lot of fun..From Cape Reinga (North) to Sterling Point (South) and riding at a maximum speed of 55 km/hour I explored this fantastic country I’m lucky enough to call my home.
With just a video camera, tent, spare petrol can and a backpack, it was a great way to explore New Zealand and meet some great people along the way. The trip wasn’t all leisure however, as I also recorded points of interest; logging their GPS position and have continued to do this in my spare time (not on a scooter) since in a campervan. Capturing this data and turning into something that can benefit people travelling this country is what the project is all about.
